Exclusive Track to Raise Funds for Wildlife Victoria

January 15, 2020

A special digital release has been announced to raise funds to help injured and displaced wildlife affected by the Australian fires.

This digital release of ‘Thylacine’ comes with an exclusive, previously unreleased track called ‘Song of Murray’s Brigade’. This is an musical adaptation of a 1940 poem by Australian bush poet Banjo Paterson. Stapleton performs acoustic guitar and vocals on the track, and acclaimed cellist Gareth Skinner also contributes a haunting performance.

Many of the Australian species that have been affected by these fires were already threatened or endangered due to factors such as habitat loss from land clearing for agriculture and urban development, and pressures from extreme heat and ongoing drought. These fires pose a huge threat for their ongoing survival, but we still have a chance to help and ensure that they don’t end up in the history books next to the thylacine (now extinct).

This digital release is available for £5, though you can pay what you want and there is no upper limit. Please give generously to help Australia’s unique wildlife.

New Single Released Today

November 29, 2019

The brand new single ‘Thylacine’ is out today. Borrowing it’s title from an extinct Australian marsupial, ‘Thylacine’ is the first track from Stapleton’s forthcoming album ‘We Are The Plague’. It was recorded between OX4 Sound and Stapleton’s home studio, and mixed by Dan Cox (Thurston Moore, Laura Marling) at London’s Urchin Studios. Gavin Jay (Jim Jones & The Righteous Mind) performs bass on the record, and Jim Macaulay (The Stranglers) is on drums. ‘Thylacine’ was premiered by Danielle Perry on The Sunday Night Music Club feat Q Magazine on Absolute Radio. 'Thylacine' is available on digital music platforms now.

New Tunes Under Construction

December 21, 2018

2018 has been a great year at camp Stapleton - from the first live show with Gavin and Jim in January, a homecoming tour of Australia, the release of Negative Prophet, Liverpool Sound City, shows in France, touring the UK with legends The Church, and many other wonderful shows between, it was a whirlwind first half of 2019.

Things may have seemed a bit quiet over the past few months... but, rest assured, there has been a lot of noise going on in the rehearsal room and we are happy to announce that recording for the new album will commence in 2019! Band tracks will be laid down in the English countryside in January with overdubs and mixing to be completed over the following couple of months.

There’ll be lots more news in the New Year about this. Be sure to SIGN UP TO THE NEWSLETTER so you don't don’t miss any of the big announcements coming up.

Have a wonderful Christmas and see you in 2019.
